This Chateau Hotel in the Yonne with character, nestled in a main building of Burgundy style and in a small castle in Burgundy of the 19th century, invites you to an art of living in the countryside of Auxerre, a true alchemy between traditional architecture and contemporary facilities, which recalls the warmth of a family home.

The Château du Roncemay, a romantic refuge

Emerging from its enchanting setting, like a fairy tale castle, the former hunting lodge of Château de Frauville has been part of the Burgundy landscape and heritage since the 19th century. A lot of "joie de vivre" and happiness can be seen on the period photos found by the Meignen family and displayed at the estate. It seems to have always been a place of conviviality, benevolence and sharing, which offers the simple pleasures of family joys and country life. This Château Hôtel in the Yonne, built in the 19th century at a place called Roncemay, was used to welcome the many hunters invited to Frauville.

A total renovation

In 2018-2019, architects, new owners and regulars of the Chateau Hotel in Yonne: le Roncemay have reimagined every part of the place, from the interior architecture to the furnishings, from the frames to the lighting to offer you a unique experience in Burgundy in total harmony with nature. Exposed beams, Burgundy stones, warm colors, family furniture to modern furniture of contemporary designers, each space has been rethought for the search of well-being and serenity.

A dedicated area for golfers has recently been created with a caddy master, proshop and clubhouse bar where you can have a drink while admiring the domain and GolfPlus for the enthusiasts. Conviviality guaranteed! The restaurants and their terraces have been redesigned to make non-golfers feel just as comfortable. South-facing areas will let you enjoy the sunshine whatever the season.

And the renovations have continued into 2021 with the creation of a magnificent 850m² spade, and other projects to come.

"Our philosophy is to use the natural richness of the land and the region. In the course of our work, we get closer to what is dear to us. Let nature reign. Alleys and paths in the heart of a wooded valley with very old trees express the nobility of the place. Ponds. Orchards and vegetable gardens that we rehabilitate with nurseries and local associations. We wanted to make this place a peaceful place that lives." 

Driven by this environmental philosophy, the Chateau Hotel in the Yonne has undertaken various actions in favor of environmental preservation. An eco-responsible approach which is part of the strong values of the Domaine du Roncemay and which is declined in multiple initiatives:

  • Use of pond water for watering
  • Progressive installation of a more drought-resistant plant cover for a more reasonable water consumption
  • Electric carts and electric mountain bikes on the estate
  • Cooking with local products and choosing environmentally friendly service providers
